Home International Regatta 2019

28 Jul

Congrats to Sophie Brown of Sudbury (PR2), Georgia Walker (PR3-VI) and Ella Holloway (PR3-PD) for representing their home nations at the Home International Regatta at Strathclyde this weekend. British Rowing reported…

  • England also won both of the regatta’s adaptive rowing events, with Georgia Walker of Marlow Rowing Club claiming gold in the PR3 women’s single scull and Sophie Brown of Sudbury Rowing Club following suit in the PR2 women’s single scull. Walker, coached by Enya Meadows and aged just 16 years old, gave an exceptional performance which will stand her in good stead for the future.”

Ella shared her perspective on the day:

  • “Due to my Scottish heritage, I had the opportunity to race for Scotland , I was welcomed into the senior women’s team and invited up for training . This was an excellent opportunity for me to get some sculling coaching as I predominantly I sweep row with Marlow club and the GB para development group . Training at Strathclyde and with the Scottish scullers was also great and an inspiring opportunity as I was amongst many accomplished but friendly athletes . On the day I was treated as a full member of the squad despite my race being an exhibition (no points for the team) . I am delighted para rowing was included in home nations and I am elated to have worn my first international vest”
