Tokyo 2021 Paralympics

31 Aug

A massive week for British pararowing at the Tokyo 2021 Paralympic Regatta with sterling results from all of our heroes:

  • Kingsley Ijomah, PR1 1x (NGR) – Kingsley was one of the UK adaptive/pararowing community who laboured to achieve his dream of becoming a “Paralympian” in the club system and his own personal dedication. He honorably represented his home country and continent for whom the sport is in its infancy.
  • Ben Pritchard, PR1 1x (GBR) – Ben’s Paralympic odyssey also took him through the heartland of the adaptive/para community rowing at Marlow, Twickenham and Cardiff en route to imposingly laying down the Paralympic Best time of the entire regatta.
  • Laurence Whiteley, Lauren Rowles, Mx PR2 –Laurence and Lauren displayed their poise and excellence with an exciting and, in the end, dominant win which reminded all of the adaptive UK community how powerful GB pararowing is all the way up to the highest levels of achievement.
  • Ellen Buttrick, Giedre Rakauskaite, James Fox, Oliver Stanhope, cox Erin Kennedy, PR3 Mx 4+ (GBR) – Like the PR2, the increasingly legendary legacy of the 4+ provide a consummately distinctive achievement that the whole community takes pride in.
