The high profile Junior Inter-Regional Regatta featured adaptive racing for the first time ever. Top young athletes from all around the country are assembled into regional teams for a competitve derby. The conditions were so severe that later in the morning they cancelled a number of the races, but the adaptive soldiered through the rough seas for some formidable racing.
This event is another example of British Rowing focus on raising the profile and participation of adaptive/pararowing at the top UK events (JIRR, Brit Champs, Womens Henley, Junior Sculling Regatta) and supporting junior adaption participation is a big focus of British Rowing’s LoveRowing Foundation.
Congratulations to the pioneering adaptives:
- Harvey Wintle, Marlow (Upper Thames)
- O. Davies, (North West)
- Kiki Quibell, Marlow (Upper Thames)
