Wales hosted the first adaptive coastal events in the UK – Supported Adaptive 2x and Supported Adaptive 4x. One of the athletes, a leader in the Community Adaptive Group, Sophie Harris of Mayflower RC reported on the proceedings:
- “It was put together by Sam English of Welsh rowing. The adaptive category was women’s and quads. Plenty of land supports, set up contact was made to discuss needs or constantly asked if needed anything if ok comfortable and no segregation we all just blended in to the event which was nice.”
Congrats to Sophie and her partner Karen Jackson for their win over Fishguard and Goodwick Jemima. Also, congrats to the Coastal Barbarians boat for pioneering the Adaptive 4+ format.
