Llandaff Regatta 2023

13 Jul

Adaptive Rowing in the UK keeps growing and, fortunately, with more athletes comes more opportunities for getting together and competing. The latest addition to the adaptive rowing calendar is the Llandaff Regatta which held its first ever adaptive races last week. Also, the first adaptive river racing in Wales. But you wouldn’t know it was their maiden effort given how smoothly everything went (with lots of guidance from Stratford’s Mark Dewdney):

  • Absolutely superb event, loved every single second of racing but also the general atmosphere, I actually feel a little down today because it was so great. The Llandaff folks were so welcoming and supportive, it was a really great experience.” – Sean Bailey, Runcorn RC
  • We had a great experience… Racing, umpiring and commentary all felt the same for MARS as non-adaptive racing so a great egalitarian experience. Llandaff as a small friendly host club so not too overwhelming. As a first outing for Ross it was very enjoyable and gave us great confidence…A definite win “ – Sally Pettipher, Ross RC
  • The event was fantastic…I was able to pick up a lot of knowledge that I wouldn’t have had if we hadn’t made the journey. Particularly seeing how the event flowed with the adaptive heats thrown into the mix, how confident Llandaff were hosting and how slick Mark was at arranging all the races, boat sharing and vast amount of adjustments ” – Faye Stewart, Runcorn RC

Congratulations to the winners:
