The Home International Regatta has long supported adaptive rowing and is one the main opportunities for pararowers in the UK to get a taste of “international” competition…when those nations are England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. This year’s event was the biggest pararowing racing held at the competition with 21 entries in 8 races. In fact, it was the biggest pararowing event of the UK in the UK
Llandaff coach Daymo Hammond provided a report of the strong successes of the Welsh team:
- “Llandaff Rowing Club’s para-athletes Rebekah Knight and Miguel Ferreira De Lima won the senior women’s single and senior men’s single titles, on the 2k course at Strathclyde…Their coach, Llandaff’s Professional Coach, Damian Hammond, former Senior GB Coach and former Wales’ National Coach and Welsh Coach of the Year said ‘This is truly amazing, as Rebekah and Miguel both beat athletes who are on the GB Pathway for the next games in Los Angeles. Our Club Captain, Laura Starrs, and Club Chairman, Trevor Wing, are delighted with this success for Llandaff Rowing Club, as we cater for all levels of rowing, from complete beginner to High Performance, from 12 years old to 80 plus – we are a club for everyone. We would like to thank Welsh Rowing for their support, including giving Rebekah her own racing boat for the year, and also The Para Rowing Foundation, for selecting Rebekah from Para athletes all over the world for a week’s training camp in Portugal, at the beginning of the season.”
And British Rowing published a piece on team England’s successes.
Congratulations to the winners:

A small point, but as far as the nations are concerned it is Ireland, not Northern Ireland.
