Sudbury Regatta 2025

3 Aug

Sudbury Rowing Club is one of the longest standing adaptive rowing clubs in the UK and has regularly offered adaptive events at its annual regatta. Unfortunately, with its location on the east side of England where fewer adaptive clubs have been (in comparison to the west side that has the Thames running through it), they have struggled to get many competitors. This year, Marlow RC made the eastward journey (only about 1 hour and 45 minutes) for a day of robust competition.

The event is superbly well run and very friendly (with one of the best spreads of baked treats I have come across! – see below) . They boat the adaptives from their clubhouse (all other competitors boat from Friars Meadow (see below).

They ran their events as progression which is a bit more challenging for the organisers and means fewer prizes than the straight-to-final approach, but it provide an opportunity for more racing (if you progress) and makes the win higher impact.

Congratulations on the pot winners…

  • PR1/2 – Sophie Brown, Sudbury
  • Supported Adaptive 2x – Alba Robins and Bruce Lynn, Marlow
