British Indoor Rowing Championships 2025

7 Dec

The British Indoor Rowing Championship (BRIC) 2025 at NEC, Birmingham is the pinnacle event for the adaptive community in the UK. Nothing matches it for participation, support, energy and profile. 52 events with nearly 100 entries The increase in the number of clubs participating from 23 last year to 29 is hopefully reflective of broader support for adaptive rowing in the UK in more places.

Invictus and Marlow RC have been longstanding rivals at this competition with the medal table being pretty close, but this year We Are Invictus roared to a commanding victus-ory with 27 medals!

Gold Silver Bronze
Invictus 13 9 5
Marlow 5 3 2
Stratford-upon-Avon 2 1 4

The day was filled with exceptional performances like the side-by-side sprint duel between Marlow’s Jamie Tennant and Invictus’ Peter Wilson that ended in a dead-heat.

The event was distinctively supported by one of the luminaries in the GB Pararowing world – World Champion and Paralympic Champion Ben Pritchard (who actually set his 2000m World Record at this very event in 2021)

BR reported on the Adaptive racing in its piece “World and British records obliterated at the British Rowing Indoor Championships 2025”:

  • “The Adaptive racing provided some of the most memorable moments of the event. After winning the PR1 Open 2000m, just outside of his World Record time, Paralympic Champion Benjamin Pritchard galvanised the crowd as he roared on his fellow competitors in the PR2 Women’s 2000m. In the IAR7 Open 2000m, Aidan Leverage won in a Championship Record time. This was the first of two 2000m events within an hour for Aidan, as he looks to raise money and awareness for Epilepsy Action UK. ‘It’s amazing, and it’s so accessible, that’s what’s great about our sport,’ said Pritchard. ‘The indoor sport is super accessible, and BRIC shows you can row from a very young age to a much older age with any impairment. It was really important for me to get amongst the community of adaptive rowing and race with them. BRIC has had adaptive racing for a very long time, and it’s great to see it grow from strength to strength.’.”
