The Junior InterRegional Regatta (JIRR) has been the highest profile junior regatta with adaptive racing. This is an important and early testing ground of lane racing for the pararowing youth aspiring to the Brisbane Paralympics in 2032. It is also a prominent showcase of adaptive talent to raise awareness to people from around the country of this aspect of the sport.
Its 9 entries made it the largest adaptive entry ever for JIRR. The event has been very proactive in not just introducing adaptive rowing, but promoting it. The competition pits all of the regions of the Britain against each other in teams scored by top places, but for the adaptive competition, even having an adaptive entry earns you a point. With the Victor Ludorum Trophy being a tie this year (between Eastern and Thames Upriver East), that single point makes a difference (actually Adam Hussain of Marlow scored extra points for securing silver in the event.
